This is going to piss off a bunch of people. But if it was up to me someone like this would be stripped of his citizenship and set down there to stay. This is coming from someone from this country and who has made a good living here. You don't like it.....then LEAVE!

CARACAS, Venezuela Jan 8, 2006 — The American singer and activist Harry Belafonte called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world" on Sunday and said millions of Americans support the socialist revolution of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

Belafonte led a delegation of Americans including the actor Danny Glover and the Princeton University scholar Cornel West that met the Venezuelan president for more than six hours late Saturday and attended his television and radio broadcast on Sunday.

"No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says, we're here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people … support your revolution," Belafonte told Chavez during the broadcast.

The 78-year-old Belafonte, famous for his calypso-inspired music, including the "Day-O" song, was a close collaborator of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and is now a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. He also has been outspoken in criticizing the U.S. embargo of Cuba.

If the US imposed a trade blocade against Venezuela it would be the US that cuts off supplies of oil to itself... think about it Doc... you are running around in circles blaming the wrong people.

And you're sticking up for someone that is the next best thing to an avowed communist!

Man, Harry Belafonte has so much pull in the US, man.

Chavez is neither as powerful nor as socialist as people think.

And if the First Ammendment quit giving Americans the right to say things like this, then I missed that memo.

Lastly, when I saw an article by you called "very angry," I laughed, because you could call every one of your misguided rants the same thing.

Cheers.

I gotta go along with Myr to a certain extent on this one....

But the First Amendment does guarantee the right of a citizen to make an assh*le of himself...As Harry and Danny so often do.

You obviously missed Jillusers earlier post....

he is speaking his opinion so I will support him in that regard.

I would agree with you if he were doing it in his own country
. If he needs to go to other countries to slam his own he can stay there!

Don't people see that this short sighted attitude about people having the right to say whatever they want wherever they want is helping create the bad rep that everyone is complaining the US has. They spout about how terrible the government is without giving any fact to back it up. People around the world hear that Bush is a terrorist and eat it up.

I read your link and it only backs up what I said... we are both obviously reading into it what we want to.
Blockade means end of trade! If the US initiates a blockade, there will be no more oil for them... it will be their own fault. Here are the exact words of Chavez on the matter...

"Mr. Bush must know that if he gets the mad idea of trying to blockade Venezuela, or, even worse, of invading Venezuela, if that happened, the people of the United States should know that not a drop of oil would reach them from Venezuela, not a drop more,"

I do not see this as him threatening the US , like I said, blockade means an end to trade! There is no such thing as a one way blockade.
One example of this is the blockade on Cuba... no sugar from Cuba is exported to the US. This is NOT the choice of the Cuban government, it was the US that started the blockade there.
In both cases, whenever exports that are needed in the US, ie; oil, sugar, are stopped, it is the American consumer that is forced to pay more for these products as a result.
In these two cases, it is the fault of the US government.

And myrrander....if you get nasty I will delete every personal attack that you post on my blog. I won't blacklist nor will I delete any comment that addresses the issue. I'll just edit out the attack. I deleted your last post because in it's entirety there was "nothing" in it pertaining to the topic.
