The UN is a democracy? Who the fuck elected the UN?

Bonus, Since when is One country=One vote A democracy? One person = one vote, and that still sucks.

Well then you are in favor of putting communist china in control... so I see where the article was coming from... the right WANTS it to be communist controlled, because 1 person should equal one vote in the UN. I see.

And where do they get off thinking they can tax US citizens?

Hum... I guess you didn't understand my analogy... I was comparing two democracies: the UN and the USA, then comparing the most power country in the UN (the USA) to the most powerful person in the USA (Bill Gates). As much as the US contributes finacially to the UN, Bill Gates contributes financially to the USA through his income taxes. Your complain about the fact that poor countries get easy money from the USA, the same could be said by Bill Gates since his money is easy money for the poor Americans.

SO the best thing to do is to go our seperate ways.

Problem is, can't do it. Every sovereign country in the World has representatives in the UN (with the past exceptions of Japan and Germany because of WW2). It would be like a US citizen saying he doesn't want to be part of the USA anymore although he still lives there. I guess the US could decide to stop paying contributions to the UN and stop voting at the security council. Not sure how this would help anything though. Decisions would still be made but without them.

Besides all this is pretty much of a cry baby reaction. "If the votes don't turn out the way I want it, I'm not playing anymore, so there!"

See you Later UN. When you get democracy in your countries as well.

That shows how much you know about the UN. The UN have always encouraged democracy. There are many UN programs trying to promote democracy everywhere. But the thing is, as I said before, every sovereign country in the world has the right to be represented in the UN. Just like in the US, everybody can vote, no matter what their political opinion is or how they manage their household. Heck, in the US, even prisoners (including murderers) have the right to vote. Should some American big shot decide one day that he should "part ways" with the US until the country forces every family in the country have the same political opinion?

The UN is not a country, it's a ground for every country on the planet to engage in a dialog and try to solve issues together. It may not be perfect sometimes, but claiming the UN is against the US is getting things a bit wrong. Some countries may be against the US, and those countries each have a voice in the UN. Instead of whining about the UN, maybe this US governement should try to ask themselves why they are so disliked. Maybe it should try to see how it can work WITH the other countries instead of against them.

Huh? And who elected the USA? Since when does one "votes" a country or an organisation into existance??? Maybe in some rare cases where they got their independance through a referendum, but very few did. The USA didn't. BUt the US is still a democracy because, in a democratic institution, its MEMBERS get to vote on a 1 member = 1 vote basis. As such, UN IS a democracy.

One person = one vote, and that still sucks.

The citizens of the US.  not some communist dictator! Take your UN and shove it!

The citizens of the US elected the USA? That's news to me. I thought the US was founded following a revolution. Wasn't aware the citizens were given a choice, even back then.
What the citizens of the US do, every four years, is elect a president and you also elect the people who are going to represent you at the senate. In the same way, the members of the UN (that includes the USA) elect its Secretary General. Now who a country chooses to represent it at the UN is up to each country I guess, in your case I believe the delegates are appointed by the President.

You're just trolling now, aren't you? Throwing your line hoping a fish such as me would bite... OK, I'll bite.

What communist dictator exactly are you talking about? I'm sorry but you make no sense... As far as taking "my UN" and shoving it, it's as much your UN as mine, and you can shove it if you want, but I happen to think the UN isn't perfect but is far better than the alternative which would be on single country ruling the world.

Which representatives in the UN are elected to govern? I've yet to see Ambassador to the UN on any ballot I've punched. And it sure as hell doesn't pop up on any ballot in any other country.

Yes, they had a choice back then, and they have a choice today.  They can leave, it is a free country after all.  And that freedom was bought with the blood of the patriots who over threw tyranny.  Sorry that is such a difficult concept for you to understand.

The communism of the UN.  That dictates the good of the whole supercedes the rights of all.  That is a play right out of Marx.  Sorry, I was not trolling, and you are just not getting it.  The simple fact is that the US Constitution supercedes the Un Charter in this Country.  So while the tin platte dictators and bribe taking clowns of third world countries and Europe can try to dictate to us, Our laws prevent it.  Even if John effing Kerry had won the election, his desire to subver the will of the citizens to a new world order would have been thwarted by the laws and the will of the people.

Go troll some where else or at least learn some facts.

Why is that? Because a disparging remark was made about Sen Kerry?

The UN is probably the worst structured organization in the face of humanity. Security Councils??? When the f*ck did France get the right to preserve the world? What type of army does it have? Little to None. And it get's to choose wether other countries get to go to war!! What a farce?

As the one girl in my class says." The UN is Euro Central." Let's forget that it loves to taunt America but it fails to recognize the growing power and maturity of nations such as India, Japan and others.

The UN system is a failure in design. And to top it all off the people in the system are even more corrupt.
