Kerry Forms PAC
In yet another sign that John Kerry won't be going away quietly anytime soon, the failed presidential candidate is forming a leadership political action committee to promote the agenda the American people rejected on Nov. 2.
Headed up by longtime Kerry aide John Giesser, the as-yet-unnamed PAC will boost candidates and causes that help advance Kerry's political goals, according to the Boston Globe, including expanded access to health insurance and the protection of the environment.
Kerry also pledged during the campaign to form a new Department of Wellness that would promote preventive medicine.
Though candidates often use PACs as springboards to launch presidential campaigns, Giesser insisted that Kerry was not focused on another run for the White House.
"We just finished a campaign," he told the Globe. "This is a leadership organization ... based on the vision and ideas that John Kerry will continue to fight for and that many millions of Americans support."
Giesser said Kerry would use the PAC to "speak out, promote new policies, hold Republicans accountable, and support Democratic candidates at all levels."
