The reason bottled water is so popular is because the quality of our tap water is so bad. Funny thing is that the very person (Mayor of San Fran Freako) is in charge of one of the absolute "worst" water supplies in the US. Was one of the first to cancel the cities bottled water contract. I grew up on well water and I'm taller than everyone else in my family.

I wondered why you did that, LW.

Bumping your own post to get more attention is just sad.

Whatever section you are in when you hit the new thread button will be the default section put in the form. I am sure It was simply an oversight prior to sending. The fact that it became more than a chuckle is stupid.

(it annoys the hell out of your brother too, SanC, haha.)

I know. It annoys him to the point of ofttimes refusing to comment on an otherwise interesting thread if he's seen the author's done it. What can I say? I love the guy.

JU works differently in that original posts are generated from the user's blog site not directly from the forum. One has to select which section in which they want it to appear and sometimes JU ignores that and puts it wherever it damn well pleases.

For one thing I set this to post on the politic board as a responce to an article from Locomama. It's not my fault that JU went nutz and posted it where it felt like. It won't even let me move it. I just tried.

And for those saying it's "only" tap water...should "really" look at the labels tap water that has been "purified" is not the same as tap water from your faucet. And for the one that was dissing Dasani...READ their label they NEVER make any claim to being otherwise. Just purified with mineral content added for taste.

And as far as the bumps go, the old JU without a comment posted would NOT show up in the forums. What does it matter to you if I wait 1 minute, 3 or 30? Does it bother you?

Hey drmiler; as for moving it, if the JU forums are similar to WC forums only an admin can move it to another section.
As for the Ju posting it wrong and not showing in forums, the coders need to do some work at JU. I spent about an hour there yesterday, SanChonino's post, reply 20, showed on main forum page right away, but in the sub section, Personal Computing and in the side panel for recent activity, there was about a 25 minute lag. Seems to be the same for new threads, after the lag time all threads, with or without comments do show in the sub sections and in the recent side panel. There is a definite cache/refresh lag issue. It would be nice to see Stardock get JU running as their other forums site do but it does seem to be a low priority at this time.

I believe there are more regulatory controls now, but there have been cases in the past where bottle waters were tested and found to be regular tap water.

A facinating article on what bottled water "really" costs : Message in a Bottle

The largest bottled-water factory in North America is located on the outskirts of Hollis, Maine. In the back of the plant stretches the staging area for finished product: 24 million bottles of Poland Spring water. As far as the eye can see, there are double-stacked pallets packed with half-pint bottles, half-liters, liters, "Aquapods" for school lunches, and 2.5-gallon jugs for the refrigerator.

Really, it is a lake of Poland Spring water, conveniently celled off in plastic, extending across 6 acres, 8 feet high. A week ago, the lake was still underground; within five days, it will all be gone, to supermarkets and convenience stores across the Northeast, replaced by another lake's worth of bottles.

Looking at the piles of water, you can have only one thought: Americans sure are thirsty.

. . . .

Fiji Water produces more than a million bottles a day, while more than half the people in Fiji do not have reliable drinking water.

. . . .

If the water we use at home cost what even cheap bottled water costs, our monthly water bills would run $9,000.

. . . .

24% of the bottled water we buy is tap water repackaged by Coke and Pepsi.

. . . .

The bubbles in San Pellegrino are extracted from volcanic springs in Tuscany, then trucked north and injected into the water from the source.

. . . .

We pitch into landfills 38 billion water bottles a year--in excess of $1 billion worth of plastic.

. . . .

Worldwide, 1 billion people have no reliable source of drinking water; 3,000 children a day die from diseases caught from tainted water.

. . . . .

Once you understand the resources mustered to deliver the bottle of water, it's reasonable to ask as you reach for the next bottle, not just "Does the value to me equal the 99 cents I'm about to spend?" but "Does the value equal the impact I'm about to leave behind?"

Simply asking the question takes the carelessness out of the transaction. And once you understand where the water comes from, and how it got here, it's hard to look at that bottle in the same way again.

I reach for filtered tap water and then unfiltered tap water before I reach for a bottle these days. I feel better about it.

Jafo wants to be a bubbles carrier....sounds like his kind of heavy lifting.....

A ton of bubbles is the same as a ton of bricks though

Swimmingly good articled. Love the fact that it's written by a guy named Fishman oh thee irony.

Hmmm, our tap water is cleaner than bottled water.

The tap water in Australia is commonly known as 'beer'...

1 mile down the road from the factory is a well that spits out the exact same water for free. People line up with their bottles and manually fill them.

Dasanti is bottled in Ayer Masachusetts (next town over from me). It comes out of a tap and the source is a resorvoir where people bath.
