I received this in a couple emails but thought it was just another "feel good" piece.
It's nice to know we aren't the only country that struggles with the politically correct police.
Actualy, I think the Aussie culture, like the American one, and the Canadian one, and the New Zealand one and all of central and south America - is a unique culture. It is an amalgamation of all that came and settled the lands and made it not at all like the mother country, but unique and distinct.
I sometimes smile when my wife runs into a cultural barrier with the couple from Venezuela. Although they share a common tongue, that is almost all they share (and the coloquialisms make even that hard at times), and she has to remind herself that Venezuela is not Mexico II
